The Prescript
The Prescript of an ancient
letter had three components: 1) sender of the letter, 2) the recipient of the
letter, and 3) a greeting. Although
unusual for most ancient letters, Paul typically expanded these elements with
information he considered relevant to the subject of the letter. The prescript of Romans is no exception.
